Ham & Bean Dinner and Pie Auction

— The PRHS Alumni Association is offering a Ham and Bean Dinner followed by a Pie Auction on Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Pea Ridge Middle School cafeteria. Serving will begin at 5 p.m. and continue through 7 p.m. The Pie Auction begins at 6 p.m.

The Dinner and Auction is a fundraiser to benefitthe Alumni Scholarship program, which provides college scholarships to graduating seniors from Pea Ridge High School each year.

The menu will include ham and beans, coleslaw, onions, relish and pickles.

Coffee and tea will be available. The pie auction will provide a variety ofpies for dessert or for take home.

PRHS Alumni Association activities are directed by a nine-member board of directors. Three new directors were elected in July: Tim Wood, Jamie Anderson Cotton and Ken Howell. The newly elected officers are: John Lasater, president; KenHowell, vice-president;

Jamie Cotton, secretary;

Nancy Jordan, treasurer;

and Jerry Nichols, communications coordinator. The other board members are Andrea Rickets, Charles Crabtree and Marcia Cothran. The board meets at 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at Arvest Bank of Pea Ridge.

Cowboy challenge slated at River of Faith

Donnie Garner and his wife, Lora, have taken over Race of Faith ministries, formerly led by Rick and Amy Stanley.

Services for the River of Faith Church are held at 9 and 11 a.m. Sundays at Snow’s Red Barn. Bible study and singing is at 7 p.m. Thursday nights.

The Stanleys recently relocated to Brenham, Texas, to work at Miracle Farm boys ranch in Independence, Texas.

Upcoming events for River of Faith Church include the Weekend Cowboy Challenge Series, Oct. 23-25.

Friday, Oct. 23, events will kick off with an 8 p.m. bonfire and cowboy gathering, featuring Billy Snow, a cowboy musician from Colorado Springs, Colo., and a cowboy poet from Little Kansas, Okla.

At 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct.

24, the first round of the obstacle challenge will take place. Round two will beginat 3 p.m., then a hayride and dance will be held at 8 p.m.

Cowboy Church with Billy Snow will begin at 9 a.m.

Sunday, Oct. 25. The championship round of the obstacle challenge will be held later that afternoon, beginning at 2 p.m.

Cash prizes will go to the winners of the obstacle challenge. Door prizes will also be offered, provided by sponsors such as Anderson’s Feed Store in Avoca, Webb’s Feed and Seed in Pea Ridge, FlyingRF Seed and Farm Supply in Garfield and others.

There will be primitive camping on site, no water or electric provided. A continental breakfast will be served each morning, with a dinner at the bonfire and concessions and vendors also available throughout the day.
