Garfield man suspected of rape

Justin Lee Waldron in county jail

— A Garfield man was arrested Monday on suspicion of raping a 9-year-old girl.

Justin Lee Waldron, 20, is being held in the Benton County Jail on a charge of rape, a class Y felony. He was booked into the jail at 12:05 p.m. Monday. He is being held in the Benton County jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.

Waldron’s arrest stems from an investigation that began after the Benton County Sheriff’s Office received a report containing sexual-abuse allegations.

A girl was interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Benton County, where she told of being touched inappropriately by Waldron, according to court documents.

Jeremy Felton, an investigator with the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, interviewed Waldron, who admitted to engaging in sexual contact with the alleged victim on several different occasions, according to court documents.

Waldron admitted to touching the girl when he was 16 and 18 years old, the affidavit states.

Prosecutors have not filed formal charges against Waldron.
