Pastor’s Corner: Check engine light

— A vehicle can’t continue running properly if not adequately maintained. Most cars come equipped with gauges to alert the driver if any of the above require attention. Even though most people recognize these truths, they fail to respond.

They ignore the instrument panel, run their cars on empty and put off routine maintenance. Continued neglect may result in a blown engine.

Likewise, the human body is more prone to illness when it lacks proper sleep and nutrition. For many people in our highstress society, the “check engine light” is on nonstop. The enemy is well aware and seizes every opportunity to act.

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. After fasting for 40 days and 40 nights, he was hungry (Matthew 4:1,2).

After 40 days of fasting, Jesus’ body was depletedof nutrients. Jesus was probably at His most vulnerable.

Be on your guard, pray at all times. Take care of yourself. Eat right, rest, relax and enjoy quiet moments with God. Remember, you’re more susceptible to an attack when your resistance is down.
