Seligman community dance

SELIGMAN, Mo. — Seligman Community Dance will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at the Seligman community building. The band will be Frosty Garland and the Road Hogs. Adults are $3, teens are free. Christmas dinner

SELIGMAN, Mo. — Seligman Chamber of Commerce and Norman Bryant foundation will be hosting a Christmas to Remember, Saturday, Dec. 5.

There will be a choice of turkey dinners at 12.30 or 5 p.m. The chamber fed more than 425 people last year. To help with crowding, they will be serving at two different times this year. Santa will be giving gifts to children 12 and under and there will be door prizes for adults. This event is free to all. For more information call 417-662-3611 or 479-841-8203.

Cassville holds dance

CASSVILLE, Mo. — The Cassville Senior Citizens monthly dance will be 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5.

This monthly dance is held on the first Saturday of each month at the Cassville Senior Citizens Center, 1111 Fair St. and features The Roaring River Sounds Band. There is a $3 charge at the door. Finger foods are welcomed and all proceeds will benefit the Cassville Senior Center. For more information, call 417-847-0131.

Christmas train ride

SELIGMAN, Mo. — The Seligman Chamber of Commerce will have a Christmas train ride at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13. The train will go from Seligman to Rogers and back. The train will be decorated for Christmas and Santa Claus will be on board. Santa will be giving candy for the children. Bunker Hill

BUNKER HILL, Mo. — The meeting was called to order by president, Debbie Ziemianin, at 1:10 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12. Hostess for the day was Grace Brown. Her devotional was Deut. 16:13-17 about celebrating the feast of the Lord.

Roll call for the day was our favorite Thanksgiving food. Roll call was answered by Debbie Ziemianin, Arlena Painter, Virginia Edwards, Grace Brown, Shirley Alps, Bonnie McCool, Dee and Linda Johnson. We wish Dee Dee and Frankie Lewis a very happy anniversary this month.

The Show and Tell portion of the meeting brought a display from Arlena — graduation announcement from 1926, Shirley — embroidered baby quilt and several Halloween strip blocks, Grace — a crocheted doll that she had made, Bonnie — several crochet blocks she received from relative and one of the lady’s crochet patterns, and Linda — a handmade perfume bottle given to her by her sister.

Secretary and treasurer’s reports were read and approved. Shirley, in absence of Betty, reported on the flower fund now standing at $179.49.

In old business, the group decided not to serve lunch on the square during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Next lunch will be Jan. 25, 2010. The last monthly singing held on Saturday, Nov. 7, had 45 in attendance. The next singing will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5.

In new business, the group decided on pricing for the quilts the club has for sale. The Double Wedding Ring is $200, the red/ white/turquoise is $200, and the lattice quilt is $150. These are all hand-quilted and some are also hand pieced. If interested in any of these quilts, call 223-7181

Also in new business, the club voted to take part in the Santa Comes to Pineville event on Saturday, Dec. 5. We will be selling raffle tickets and other items made throughout the year. Time of event is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Election of officers for the next year resulted in Debbie Ziemianin as president, Dee Lewis as vicepresident, Arlena Painter Tierno as secretary, Shirley Alps as treasurer, historian will be Arlena Tierno and Dora Latty and Flower Fund remains with Betty Higgs.

Program for the day was an article about Thanksgiving and the history of the holiday.

If interested in learning to make a string quilt or any type of quilt or learn to hand quilt, you are welcome to attend our quilting meetings starting at 10 a.m. each Thursday. For further information, call Debbie at 223-7181 or Dora at 845-6740.

Bingo was won by all of the players. The club invites anyone to join our pot luck Thanksgiving lunch at noon Thursday, Nov. 19. Our community building is located five miles north of Pineville, Mo., on W Hwy., or five miles east of Anderson, Mo., on Missouri Highway 76 to W.

The next club meeting will be Thursday, Dec. 10, with Mary Sue Gordon as the hostess. COMMUNITY EVENT

Food drive drop-off

The Northwest Arkansas Food Drive pickup days will be Mondays and Fridays through Dec. 23. The event is organized by Benton County Sheriff Keith Ferguson in cooperation with Marge Wolfe of the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank.

Chelsea Dawn Heustis and William James Knowlton Jr., both of Alpine, Utah, plan to marry at 5 p.m. Nov. 28, at Heritage Gardens in Sandy, Utah. The bride is the daughter of Tina and Steven Foster of Bentonville and Doris and Tom Heustis of Alpine. She is a graduate of Bentonville High School. The groom is the son of Kerry and William Knowlton Sr. of Stuttgart and Theresa and Rob Long of Lebanon, Mo. He attended Pea Ridge High School and is a firefighter.
