Library Notes New books at library for holidays

Wednesday, November 25, 2009

— I want to remind everyone that the library will be closed on Wednesday, Nov.

25, and Thursday, Nov. 26, to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.

Now for some upcoming events at the library: Thursday, Dec. 10, will be the Christmas open house from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (open during noon hour). We will have spiced cider, coffee, refreshments and treat bags for the children. Please join us for this annual event.

The library will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 24, Christmas Eve day. We will close at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, for New Year’s Eve day. Plan to come in and get plenty ofreading material for the holiday season.

We have some great new books here at the library.

I have purchased a second set of the popular “Twilight” series so that everyone might have a chance to read them.

(Sometimes people like them so much they keep them for a month or don’t bring them back at all!) I have also purchased a series of Vampire Diary books; someone willhave to read them and give me a review - I could read them myself but they are not my genre - usually too much romance for me - I like government intrigue and murder and mayhem. Vampire and other-wordly books are very popular right now. I know some people hesitate to read them or let their children read them (after all, the Twilight series was written for teenagers) but it is important to remember that they are fiction. That just means the author has an active imagination and is trying very hard to create a book that will sell and make them an obscene amount of money. Anyway, if you are curious, give them a try.

I am also trying to get all of the Christmas books (fiction and craft) gathered on one shelf so that they are easy to find this season.

The library also has in the latest James Patterson book, “I, Alex Cross,” Clive Cussler’s latest “The Wrecker,” Linda Howard’s “Ice” and many other good books. Come by and check them out!

Have a blessed Thanksgiving holiday!
