— It’s hard to believe we’re barely a week away from Thanksgiving and a month from Christmas.

The cold temperatures Tuesday certainly reminded us winter is at our door.

Squirrels have been scampering all around, eating and storing acorns and walnuts and playing with one another. Leaves cover the ground which may soon be white with snow.

Communities areannouncing plans for Christmas pageants, parades and other celebrations. Please share holiday stories, traditions, customs and recipes for publication during this holiday season.

As we’ve been visitingthe homes selected for the Tour of Homes by the Pea Ridge Historical Society, we’ve begun wondering - what is the oldest home in or around town? A couple of years ago, we explored several older homes.

Someone was in the office recently seeking very old copies of the first newspaper here. Do any of our readers have a copy?

We are adapting to the merger and realize that this paper has weathered many changes, fromseveral owners, to the purchase by Community Publishers Inc. and then the connection with WEHCO and the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

We are still your local, community newspaper and welcome your contributions.

Items for submissions can be e-mailed to [email protected], mailed to P.O. Box 25, Pea Ridge, AR 72751, or dropped by the office at 981 N. Curtis Avenue.
