Little ’Hawks oust Pirates

— It’s not every Halloween that a Blackhawk would be more scary than a Pirate, however on Oct. 31, that just happened to be the case.

The Pea Ridge fifth-grade traveled to Greenland to try and keep the season perfect and they did not disappoint. After only three offensive series the ’Hawks led 20-0. The Pirates tried to stop the ’Hawks speed to the outside, so Britton Caudill powered his way up the middle on runs of 11, 9, 13 and 2 for the score. Quarterback Cole Wright then found Caudill in the corner of the end zone for the 2-point conversion.

On the next series, Jacob Torreswent 75 yards for the score only to be brought back on a holding penalty. Caudill then went for 15 yards up the middle and set up the sweep pass from Wright to Bryce Prince for 22 yards. Three plays later Michael Schleisman found the end zone behind Kamden Boyd and Aron Tuszynski. The 2-point conversion failed. The ’Hawks scored on the next series with Torres going in from six yards.

Offensive leaders this week are Caudill, Chandler Tidwell, Torres, Logan Johnson, Clayton Brown, Brandon Johnson and Cole Wright, who went 3 for 3 in the air for 35 yards and a 2-point conversion.

Hunter Gaston also played well, carrying twice and scoring a 2-point conversion. The offensive line was impressive again behind Boyd, Tuszynski, Westin Church, Beau German, Tanner Flippo, Hunter Shackelford, Brett Scott, Austin Anderson and Wyatt Weber.

The ’Hawks’ defense pitched another shut out, Wyatt Weber set the tone early, tallying four tackles and a fumble recovery in the first nine plays. Clayton Brown forced the only fumble of the game. This week leaders on the defense were Prince, Weber, Duncan Truesdell, Zaine Holley, Wright, Tidwell, Jonathan Pinto, Caudell, Seth Trammell, Miranda Morgan, Tyler Wallace, Brandon Johnson and Dalton Harwell with the biggest hit of the game.
