First Flying Mule Run held despite rain

— Carolyn Armour of Pea Ridge was the overall winner in the initial Flying Mule 5K Run Saturday, Oct. 10.

Armour’s time of the 22:40 was the top time turned in with Charles Halliburton of Rogers winning the men’s crown with a finishing time of 23:45.

Windy, damp conditions along with low temperatures combined to keep the number of runners down on the town’s newest 5K course, one that started and finished in front of the new elementary school on Weston Street.

In the youth mile divisions, Halley Laster of Pea Ridge won the 9-year old girls race in 9:25 with Madison Blankenship running the course in 9:35, tops in the 7-year old race. In the Youth male 5K, J.T. Garrett of Pea Ridge was first in the 12 and under category with a time of 48:17 with his brother Wyatt coming in second in 51:06. Local 5K runner Mikhaela Cochran won the girls 12 and under5K with a 23:35 clocking with Rilee Patrick taking second in 26:12.

Jared Tarnasky of Pea Ridge won the 30-35 male in 27:43; John Garrett of Pea Ridge won the 35-39 race in51:07; Dan Sherwood won the 45-49 in 27:02 with Tim Field of Garfield finishing second in 30:24; with Laura Kohnke of Chickasha, Oklahoma winning the 50-54 race in 30:18.
