Another Ozarks town was left without a doctor with the death Wednesday of Dr.

Charles R. Brown, 69, of Seligman, Mo.

The grand opening of the Pea Ridge Youth Center was a huge success! Approximately 50 people came to the opening Saturday night.

William McBride of Seligman, Mo., who served an apprenticeship on the Graphic while a Pea Ridge senior, began his new duties with the Miami, Okla., News-Record as a reporter.

The Arkansas Highway Commission awarded a $2.4 million contract July 25 to McClinton-Anchor Company, Fayetteville, for construction of 2.1 miles of U.S. Highway 62 in Benton County.

Following action Thursday evening at a special meeting, the Pea Ridge Park Commission, through chairman Bob Harp, announced that the probability of building tennis courts at the City Park was now near realization.

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Fletcher of the Jacket, Mo., community observed their 25th wedding anniversary July 27. She was the former Ethel Mae Henbest and they were married at Cassville, Mo., July 27, 1954.

The Beta Alpha chapter of ESA held a watermelon feast at the Pea Ridge City Park.

Members and guests attending were Marge Padgett, Jo Evans, Ruth Talburt, Virgie Hazelton, Pat and Kenneth Patterson, Pansy, Wayne and Glenda Gastineau, Kennda Varnell and hostess Brenda Varnell.

The Volunteer Ambulance Service was planning its annual Fall Festival to be held atVAS headquarters in Garfield on Sept. 9.

To improve the quality of bass fishing in certain waters, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission imposed length limits or slot limits on some or all of the three species of native black bass found in the state -largemouth bass, spotted bass and smallmouth bass.

John W. Holcomb, 39, of Seligman, Mo., was listed in stable condition Tuesday afternoon following surgery at St. Mary-Rogers Memorial Hospital. Holcomb was struck Monday morning by a pick-up truck driven by Clifford G. Harper, 59, of Springdale.

Boxes of neon pink, blue and green squishy worms surrounded Mike Winchester as he carefully packaged the bulk baits for sale. The booths around him featured sporting goods on consignment - a "guy's flea market." Winchester Outdoors, a unique concept in sporting goods stores, also reflected the atmosphere Pea Ridge hoped to maintain as it grew.

Sixteen people met at the Bank of Pea Ridge Monday night and decided to save the Pea Ridge Mule Jump by combining efforts of the local United Way and other nonprofit organizations to produce the event.

Aaron and Reba Morgan proudly displayed cantaloupes grown in their garden on north Arkansas Highway 94 from seed purchased from Fred McKinney at Webb's Feed and Seed. The larger one weighed over 12 pounds.
