HOLIDAY CLASSIC BASKETBALL

— Senior boys

In the 2009 Holiday Classic held at Southwest High School in Washburn, Mo., beginning Monday night, Dec. 28, eight teams battled each other for a chance at the basketball championship title.

Senior Pea Ridge boys faced East Newton and were victorious, with a score of 54-32. They were scheduled to play the winner of the Billings vs. Pierce City game at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Other first round face-offs were Southwest vs. Exeter and Purdy vs.

Wheaton.

The final game is set for 9 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 30, to determine thechampion.

Senior girls

The Lady ’Hawks competed in the Holiday tournament in Berryville this week. They lost to Pocahontas Monday night 40-49. Lexy Paryzek scored 19 points Monday.

Tuesday morning, the Lady ’Hawks were victorious against Eureka Springs 42-29. Erin Duval scored 14 points; Kayla Bangs scored 12 points; Shantel Morgan scored 10 points; Deborah Beard scored 4; and Paryzek scored 3. Bangs and Morgan each had 11 rebounds.

They are scheduled to play at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
