Brenda’s Kitchen coming to town

— A new restaurant is planned for the corner of Slack and Weston streets. A conditional use was granted for one year for a concession trailer for Keith and Brenda Ramsey, owners of Brenda’s Kitchen, by the Pea Ridge Planning Commission at their regular meeting Tuesday. Planners requested a one-way entrance and exit to alleviate potential traffic problems on the busy corner.

In other business, a property owner learned that her requestto place a mobile home on her property at the end of Barris Lane could not be approved. When she appeared earlier in the month at the City Council meeting, Sylvie Bowerman learned that her request must be presented to the Planning Commission.

After a public hearing and discussion, Bowerman learned her request to place a mobile home on her lot is to be delayed.

“I’m loathe to bring this up, but I’m not sure the public hearing was valid,” Andrew Huntsinger, assistant city attorney said.

Tony Townsend, city buildingofficial, said he did not receive the request from the Bowermans until Nov. 23.

“My daughter came down and talked to Tony (Townsend) ... then we met with the mayor and Tony. We were just told all we needed to do was get a permit,” Bowerman said. “We were never told. We were bounced back and forth. It’s been rough for us.

We’ve had this since October and haven’t been given the correct information.”

Due to the cost of calling a special meeting, it was agreed to address the issue in January.
