Granny’s Quilts of Love

Granny’s Quilts of Love met at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 17 at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church in Pea Ridge.

There were 200 quilts turned in for November, making the total quilts 9,256 along with 1,478 caps and 1,702 pillows.

The Christmas appreciation brunch will be hosted by The Friendly Stitchers/Granny’s of Bella Vista at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, at Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd. The Friendly Stitchers/Granny’s of Bella Vista will furnish everything. To car pool, meet at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church at 8:45 a.m. For the ladies who wish to car pool, bring finished quilts to the church to be picked up and when you return to the church, you can pick up the quilt kits. If you wish, bring a small gift (not over $5) or something you have made.

Food Drive

The City of Pea Ridge will hold the 10th Annual Food Drive through Friday, Dec. 18. Last year, 130 families in need received food baskets.

Donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 29, Pea Ridge, AR 72751, or dropped off at Pea Ridge Water Department at 821 Slack St., next to Dollar General.

Cash donations will be accepted, as well as traditional Christmas foods.

Food drive drop-off

The Northwest Arkansas Food Drive pickup days will be Mondays and Fridays through Dec. 23. The event is organized by Benton County Sheriff Keith Ferguson in cooperation with Marge Wolfe of the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank.

Drop-off locations in the area include:

Christmas train ride

SELIGMAN, Mo. — The Seligman Chamber of Commerce will have a Christmas train ride at approximately 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13. The train will go from Seligman to Rogers, Ark., and back. The train will be decorated for Christmas and Santa Claus will be on board. Santa will give candy to the children.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 4 to 12 and free for children under 4.
