The Pea Ridge High School cheerleaders have competed in three cheer competitions thus far and will leave for Hot Springs Friday, Dec. 4, to compete for the State Title in class 1A-4A CO-ED Cheerleading State Championship.

The cheerleaders have won several awards, including first place in their division at the Siloam Springs Cheer Invitational, first place in their division and Overall Grand Champions at the Gentry Cheer Classic and a third place finish behind Heritage (7A) and Lake Hamilton (6A) at the ACCANWA competition held at Har-Ber High School.

The cheerleaders have also excelled in partner stunt competition with first place finishes at all competitions for Dalton Fralin, Katelynn Woodward and Claudia Contreras; a second place and two third place finishes for Jarrod Wheeler, Kinae Sands and Silver Barrios. Joey Beauchamp,Dustin Phy and Emily Sweaza also competed in the partner stunt competition. Dalton Fralin finished second overall in the jump competition at Gentry, and Sara Boyles finished fourth overall in jumps and Jarrod Wheeler finished third overall in tumbling at Siloam Springs.

Junior Blackhawk boys defeat Elkins

The junior boy Blackhawks were to play Bentonville Black Tuesday in the Benton County Tournament. They entered that tournament with a 5-2 record as they concluded their stretch before Thanksgiving with a 53-23 victory against Elkins Tuesday night to increase their record to 5-2.

“We did a good job of getting to the glass and preventing the second shots that can really hurt you as a team,” coach Quentin Snoderly said.

Levi Pitts led the way with 7 boards, Jacob Hall with 6 and Camron Tidwellwith 5. Hall led the Blackhawks in scoring with 17, Dayton Winn had 11 and Camron Tidwell followed with 8.

During their game Nov.

16, the junior ’Hawks, led by Hall with 18 points and six rebounds, toppled the Farmington Cardinals at home with a final score of54-37.

They beat Ft. Smith Ramsey 46-32 in the second round of the Cat Classic Nov. 19. Then, beat Ft.

Smith Darby 39-32 and took fifth place in the tournament.
