NEBCO Turkey shoot and rib cook-off set

— The Northeast Benton County (NEBCO) Volunteer Fire Department's 16th annual Turkey Shoot & Rib Cook-Off is set for Saturday, Sept. 26, at the NEBCO Fire Station No. 1, U.S. Highway 62 and S. Wimpy Jones Road.

Activities are scheduled to run continuously from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the entire family.

In addition to the ever popular shotgun, poker and clay bird turkey shoots, there will be bingo, both silent and live auctions, an all-day long raffle with prizes, the human bowling ball game, live music and games and prizes for the kids.

Some of the items available at the auctions include a hot tub, a fire pit smoker, a full set of kitchen cabinets and the current NEBCO VFD Station no. 2 building, currently in the process of being replaced by the new station no. 2 facility, under construction at Arkansas Highway 127 and Posy Mountain Road.

No NEBCO Turkey Shoot would be complete without a great lunch, NEBCO personnel said.

This year's features ribs, pulled pork or chicken, with baked beans, coleslaw, dessert and drink. Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Adult tickets are $8, children under 10 are $5. A concession stand will also be open throughout the day with drinks, snacks and snow cones.

Once again, the NEBCO Turkey Shoot will feature their sixth annual "Rib Cook-off." The area's best rib-cooking teams will compete for trophies. Judging for the Rib Cook off will be at noon, and shortly after that racks of ribs will be available for purchase directly from the various cooks.
