— Name that school.

Community members are being asked to contribute ideas for naming the new primary school for kindergarten through second grade students.

Pea Ridge School Board members approved a committee at the August board meeting and committee members have met to discuss various possibilities. The committee is seeking input from the community.

"This is an exciting process," Linda Whitaker, committee member, said. "It's never been done before.

"We're such a historic town.

We think it's a good thing to honor our town's history, especially the history of the school.

We believe this is a good way to start." Committee members include Whitaker, city librarian;

Mayor Jackie Crabtree; Margaret Cheek, school librarian;

Jerry Nichols, vice president of the Pea Ridge Historical Society; and Marcia Cothran.

Forms for presenting name suggestions are available at all three banks in town, at the city library and at the school superintendent's office. The completed forms are to be turned into the superintendent's office on Weston Street and will be picked up weekly by a committee member. The deadline for submission is Sept. 4.

The committee will present its recommendation to the School Board, which will make the final decision about the name.
