Complete & pumping

— The north sewer line is complete and pumping.

The 1,400-foot project (close to three miles) starts on Slack Street at Summit Meadows, goes to Givens and on to Standing Oaks and Deer Meadows.

About 60 percent of the project was paid for by developers with the city bailing out the project and paying for the lift station.

"It was all going to Standing Oaks," Ken Hayes, water/wastewater superintendent said of the sewage flowing to the lift station on Arkansas Highway 94 on the north side of Standing Oaks. "That's why people saw us out there all the time - just to maintain that system."

The former lift station had two fivehorse power pumps, Hayes said.

"All of the subdivisions were going into Standing Oaks, It was not designed to handle 250 homes. It was way over capacity."

It was all upsized to a 15-inch line going north at Hwy. 94, then increasing to a 21-inch line all the way to the new lift station north of town.

"It's a very, very deep hole," Hayes said of the new lift station. "It pumps into a forced main all the way back to the treatment plant."
