— Granny's Quilts of Love

Granny's Quilts of Love met at 9:30 a.m. July 21 at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church in Pea Ridge. Marge Crowder conducted the meeting. There were 20 members and one guest, Sara Burns, present.

Burns talked about receiving one of Granny's quilts while she was at Arkansas Children's Hospital a few weeks ago having surgery. Crowder reported Lindsey Crowder has been in remission for 20 months and she just turned 10 years old last week.

The total count of quilts made as of July is 8,478, along with 1,411 pillows and 1,233 caps.

Plans for the upcoming dinner and auction were discussed. The dinner will be Aug. 29, at Pea Ridge High School cafeteria. Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m., with the auction starting at 6:30 p.m. The price is $5 for adults, $2 for children 12 and under. Raffle tickets will be sold for a new GE washer and dryer. The tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

Tickets can be purchased at Arvest Bank or from any Granny's Quilts of Love member. Ticket holders do not need to be present to win.

Crowder announced a challenge to all Granny's to see if the club can reach a goal of 10,000 quilts by Jan. 1, 2010.

The next meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church.

This will be the last meeting before the dinner and auction. It will be important for all members to attend. For more information, contact Mary Margaret Webb at 451-8640 or Pat Patterson at 451-1500.
