Church offers help

— Parents face costs of between $30 to $50 per child as they go to the store to purchase school supplies for their children in public school.

There is help for those who need it.

"We want to serve and love our community and meet their needs," B.J. Dye said of the clothing and school supply give-away planned for this Saturday at First Baptist Church, Pea Ridge.

"We care about their physical needs as well as their spiritual needs. We care about all of them," Dye said.

The event is set for 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the church located at 1650 Slack Street (Arkansas Highway 72).

The children's and youth ministry teams have been collecting school supplies while the Secret Sisters have been accepting donations of clothing.

One family from the church is providing a pancake breakfast, as well.

Donations are still being accepted. Vouchers will be given to those who need the money for the schools' requests of money for school agendas.

"We're working with the school and will give vouchers which the schools can turn in for the money," Dye said.

Children must accompany the parents who will be asked to register at the door before they shop for the needed supplies.

Clothing is available for infants through adults, not just school-aged children.

Dye said a couple in the church had seen the need a couple of years ago and suggested the program.
